This sweet-salty Bacon jam recipe is made with slowly cooked turkey bacon, caramelized onions, coconut sugar, balsamic vinegar and spices.
WHAT IS BACON JAM?
Don’t be alarmed this isn’t really a “jam” with bacon in it. Think more of a relish-type consistency with pieces of bacon and caramelized onion coated with a savory syrupy glaze. It’s super easy to make and will surly become one of your new favorite condiments.
INGREDIENTS
Turkey Bacon: I rarely eat pork so if I eat bacon theres a good chance it’ll be turkey bacon, but feel free to substitute it to your preference.
Yellow or Sweet Onion.
Garlic.
Coconut Sugar: I prefer to use coconut sugar as my added sweetener of choice. It’s less processed than regular sugar and contains a bit more nutrients as well. Brown sugar can also be used in place of the coconut sugar.
Balsamic Vinegar: Add a nice bit of tang and depth to the jam.
Smoked paprika: an optional add to the dish but adds a great smokey flavor profile, highly recommended.
MORE WAYS TO ENJOY BACON JAM
There are tons of ways you can enjoy the bacon jam, because let’s be honest, bacon is good on pretty much everything. My favorite way is adding a nice pile on top of a juicy burger. Other ways include:
- On a cracker with some cheese
- Top off some eggs with a nice scoop
- Spread the bacon jam in a breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese
- Add a spread to your grilled cheese
- Served as a condiment on a charcuterie board
The possibilities are endless…
Store in an airtight container and let come to room temperature before covering and put in fridge for up to two weeks.
